charismatic- based on the leader
rational legal - based on rules and systems
common law- tradition, legal precedent, past thoughts

- nationalism/ shared political culture
- satisfaction with the government
political culture- refers to the collection of beliefs values and practices and institution the government is based upon
can also be measured by social capital
- consensual - accepts what it does
- conflictual - sharply divided regarding the legitimacy and the solutions
political ideologies- sets of values held by individuals regarding goals of government and politics
liberalism- emphasis on individual political and economic freedom
communism - government dictated equality
socialism- equality is important, but allows for some freedoms
facism- accepts the idea that people exist in degrees of superiority and inferiority
